About me: Sangita Choudhury

I am an educator and community worker from Guwahati, Assam. A statistician by training, with a Ph.D. from Gauhati University and postgraduate degrees from the University of Delhi, I discovered my true voice in storytelling—an inheritance from my father, a gifted oral storyteller whose words first revealed to me the power of imagination and human connection.

My inspirations come from travel, people, and places—experiences that breathe life into my reflections on culture, memory, and social change. From essays like “Why Celebrate Sishu Bikash Kendra?” to “Racquets & Reminiscences,” my writing often explores the intersections of belonging and purpose.

Currently serving as Secretary of Sishu Bikash Kendra, I am also actively engaged with Soroptimist International–Guwahati and other civic initiatives. Through my work and writing, I try to trace the quiet strength and resilience that shape everyday life—across places, communities, and cultures.

The Blog That Took 15 Years in the Making

After years of kind nudges, loving encouragement, and the occasional “You really should write a book,” I’ve finally taken the first step; I have launched a blog via this website, meghamorawritings.com.

It all began in April 2010 with a simple travelogue on Facebook from the mountains of Jammu & Kashmir. What followed was a genuine pouring of support, thoughtful comments, and a chorus of voices urging me to write more seriously.

So here I am, turning reflections into stories, memories into musings, and sometimes spoken, sometimes unspoken thoughts into (digital) pages. This blog will be my little corner for travel tales, nostalgic notes, and everyday thoughts, hopefully leading one day to a book.
Thank you for being here. Your encouragement means everything and review is valuable.

The Name MEGHAMORA*

Megh.amora is a name shaped by language, emotion, and love.

“Megh” draws from Sanskrit, Assamese, and Hindi, meaning “cloud”—a symbol of nature, change, fertility, and emotion.

Clouds carry rain, and rain carries renewal.

“Amora” rises from the Latin “amor”—love—while across cultures it suggests sweetness and expression, and in Hebrew, the voice of a speaker or interpreter.

Together, Meghamora becomes a poetic union -
a cloud of love,
rain that carries feeling,
words spoken as if from the clouds.

*The name Meghamora was lovingly coined by my daughter, Hiya, making this space not just a collection of writings, but a shared inheritance of thought, feeling, and voice.
